In the old classrooms you can discover a rare collection of objects and documents retracing the almost 1000 year-old history of the Abbaye de Tiron, the establishment of the college and the creation of twelve French Royal and military colleges.
In the fully restored former classrooms of the college, Stéphane Bern has designed an interesting museum devoted to the history of the college, to the history and creation of Royal military colleges by Louis XVI in France and the history of the neighbouring Thiron-Gardais abbey founded in 1114 by Saint Bernard de Thiron. We remember that in 2014 ceremonies were organised under the Presidency of Prince Jean de France, Duc de Vendôme to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the Abbey.
The famous landscape designer Louis Benech has redesigned the college’s gardens, by reconstructing the landscapes of the past.
Some trees date back to before the French Revolution, others have been planted to create a beautiful sense of harmony, and a small organic vegetable plot has even been created for the personal use of Stéphane Bern.
